PKV: Allergien können Versicherungswechsel erschweren
Regelmäßig in der Weihnachtszeit werden wir mit Düften unterschiedlicher Couleur konfrontiert. Inzwischen haben auch Handel und Industrie erkannt, dass sich damit sprichwörtlich Kasse machen lässt. Allerdings ist deren Einsatz nicht ganz ungefährlich. Viele Experten warnen inzwischen sogar davor, denn Duftstoffe können bei sensiblen Menschen zu gesundheitlichen Folgen führen. Unterm Strich drohen sogar Folgen in unerwarteter Richtung.
Duftstoffe als Allergen
Allgemein gelten Pollen, vielleicht noch Hausstaubmilben und Tierhaare als Allergene. Weit unterschätzt werden dagegen chemische Substanzen wie Duftstoffe. Dabei kann deren Wirkung als potenzielles Allergen deutlich höher sein als zum Beispiel bestimmte Pollen. Da viele Duftstoffe nicht aus natürlichen Substanzen hergestellt werden, sondern mithilfe der Chemie ist es zudem nicht immer einfach, die Gefahr als Allergen von Anfang an einzuschätzen.
Welche Folgen haben diese Allergien im Alltag. Unbehandelt können allergische Reaktionen zu Atemwegserkrankungen wie dem gefürchteten Asthma Bronchiale führen. Damit einher gehen aber nicht nur gesundheitliche Konsequenzen, auch der Alltag Betroffener ist unterm Strich stark eingeschränkt. Und die Folgen solcher Reaktionen reichen noch weiter. Es kann zum Beispiel sein, dass die Allergie bzw. deren Verschlimmerung zu Problemen beim Wechsel zwischen den Krankenversicherungssystemen führt.
Allergie als Hürde für Gesundheitsprüfung
Die private Krankenversicherung führt eine Gesundheitsprüfung durch, um das potenzielle Krankheitskostenrisiko abzuschätzen. Allergien, die in ihrem Verlauf bereits fortgeschritten – weil unbehandelt geblieben – können zu einer höheren Risikoeinstufung führen. Im Endeffekt ist die allergische Reaktion dann mit einem Risikozuschlag verbunden, der unterschiedlich hoch ausfallen kann.
Eine Tatsache, die PKV-Test und Ratings bzw. deren Ergebnisse im Einzelfall schnell vom Tisch wischen kann. Antragsteller haben in diesem Fall nur wenige Optionen. Auf der einen Seite können sie versuchen, mit dem Versicherer einen Leistungsausschluss. Allerdings kann dies zu einem Bumerang werden. Auf der anderen Seite bleibt nur, den Risikozuschlag zu akzeptieren und umgehend mit der Behandlung der Allergie zu beginnen, um die Symptomatik nicht zu verschlimmern. Ein Vergleich der Anbieter lohnt sich immer und sollte vor allem vor dem Hintergrund einer Vorerkrankung unbedingt durchgeführt werden.
